CEU Press are pleased to announce that the Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire (BCU) library at University of Fribourg is a new member of their Opening the Future (OtF) programme.
The University BCU library has chosen to sign up to the Library Selection Package which contains 50 books selected by an independent panel of librarians on the history of the Central and Eastern European region, culture, communism, politics, and transitions to democracy. This selection is a cross-section of the other three packages and represents those CEU Press titles that might be of interest to any library across a number of disciplines.
University of Fribourg’s membership fee allows CEU Press to make new books open in ways that do not burden authors that don’t have research grants to pay BPCs. The Press has already published 10 new OA titles all fully funded by the programme, with 4 more due out this year and several more in the production pipeline.
CEU Press will only use the library’s membership fees to produce new (and otherwise unfunded) frontlist titles in an open access format. CEU Press is a leading publisher in its field and is widely recognised as the foremost English-language university press dedicated to research on Central and Eastern Europe and the former communist countries.
