Welcome! The Central European University Press (CEU Press) and COPIM project (Community-led Open Publication Infrastructures for Monographs) are pleased to announce details of a new open access (OA) monograph funding model. CEU Press is transitioning to an OA monograph programme through our new library subscription membership initiative, Opening the Future. The Press will provide access to portions of their highly-regarded backlist and use the revenue from members’ subscriptions to allow the frontlist to be OA from the date of publication.
Project MUSE will provide the hosting platform for the subscription packages and new OA titles, providing MARC records and supporting discovery systems, and subscribers will have access to COUNTER compliant statistics. The model has support from LYRASIS and Jisc with whom we are discussing library participation in the programme, and we have support from OAPEN also for hosting and dissemination of OA titles. Membership is open to libraries and institutions worldwide.
The initiative builds on library journal membership models like Open Library of the Humanities and ‘Subscribe to Open’ such as being piloted by Annual Reviews, and also on successful book membership programmes like those at Open Book Publishers and punctum books.
FAQs and more details of the model, membership and books can be found on this website which we will be updating regularly.
